This is a crochet pattern for a shawl done in a giant spider web stitch.
Size 52 inches long and 18 inches wide from neck to center point
M-13/(9mm) Hook (I used a Red Heart Crystalite)
Lion Brand Homespun Yarn (a fuzzy bulky yarn) 10 ounces or you may use 2 strands of worsted weight yarn. Pattern includes close up photos.

I like to think am (what I call) a 'semi-experienced' crocheter. I have been crocheting all my life, mom taught me when I was just 9 years old and I'm a member of AARP now, so that says it's been a long time.Anyway, when I first read the directions for this shawl, it was a bit hard to follow, but after a while - it all started to make sense. So, I began my shawl and once I did, I found that this is one of those types of patterns where you have to be very, very sure of each and every stitch. Count for count, inch for inch. And, you better be right on, no extra stitches and don't be short any stitches either, or this just won't work out.
However - if you take the time to get this right, stitch for stitch, the pay-off is so worth it. This will turn into a work of art like you've never created in your life!
The 99cent price for the pattern is ridiculously low when I see other patterns for handbags and hair do-dads and the like at $5.00 and up! That's crazy! This pattern works up quickly with a large "M" hook and bulky yarn. I tried using a beautiful royal purple, but it really didn't do the stitches and 'webbing' any justice.
If you choose to recreate this wonderful shawl, do yourself a favor and choose a lovely lighter color that will allow the definition of the beautiful stitch work to show thru. You'll get soooooo many comments and compliments, like you've never known before! Go For IT!
